That's it. I'm moving. I just found out that in the past six months 14 assaults and four sex offenses occurred in my neighborhood of Rosscarrock. You too can see just how unsafe your neighborhood is by visiting the Calgary Police website. You can decide which offences, from vandalism and theft to murder you want to appear as little colour-coded pins in the map.
Now we can all be really paranoid and never leave our houses. I fail to see how this is going to make our city safer but this is apparently the best possible use of all that money the police just received from the city.
By the way Jeremy, Bridgeland looks like a pincushion. Must be all the bears (see Bears in Bridgeland).

i live in bridgeland and it was a beautiful neighborhood before all the condos went up and the asses moved in. as a former (and mercifully short-lived) board member on the bridgeland riverside community association, i experienced first-hand the objectionable attitude and behaviour of the ass population. it was clear these asses do not tolerate anyone's company but their own.
most of the 'crime' in bridgeland is petty property crime and it has indeed gone up since the economy went bust and the city decided to penalize its poor citizens instead of helping them. i witnessed the drastic increase in rents and the destruction of affordable housing to cater to the growing ass population.
bridgeland has a reputation among its residents of being a nice, friendly community. unfortunately, the asses have over-run the neighbourhood and it is becoming more and more unfriendly to the local humans who are being pushed out of the public places.
i think a solution would be for everyone to put their bottles out on their *front* lawns and invite the bottle-pickers to come, while preserving the old family homes from gentrification, thereby dissuading further ass incursions into the area.

furthermore, it is erroneous to call the homeless folks transient as many of them have lived in the area for years, probably a lot longer than most of the asses who have only moved in since the rise of the condos.
