War of the Worlds

Everyone knows the story of Orson Welles' War of the Worlds broadcast (up-and-coming theatre company performs a radio play of a famous novel in the style of a news report, confused listeners think it's real, panic and fame results), but most of us haven't had the chance to hear it. Well, 71 years to the minute from the original broadcast (ie. 8pm EST), http://waroftheworldstribute.com/ is transmitting it into your home via the Internet. Why not start your Halloween weekend off right? Play it in the background while you're cooking dinner, forget it's fake, and run panicking through the streets!

(The broadcast is brought to you by Richard Linklater's upcoming Me and Orson Welles, which screened at 2008's Toronto International Film Festival and will hopefully head to Calgary sometime relatively soon.)
