Good news, y'all: the Sled Island lineup is fully armed and operational.
A few preliminary notes before I go to bed (I'm in NB and it's late here, lay off):
- I don't see any massive conflicts, which is nice. As always with Sled Island, there will always be tons of stuff going on and some of the best moments will no doubt emerge from just walking into venues on a whim.
- Thursday is going to be offff the chaiiin, between Mount Eerie in an ideal venue, killer lineups at the Distillery and Dicken's, and massive potential for secret shows at the Legion (Glow Pt. 2, plz,) not to mention King Khan followed by Woodhands upstairs. Shit, didn't I say there weren't any obvious conflicts? Aw, nerds...
- Olympic Plaza show should be a night to remember. Here's hoping it brings some well-deserved visibility to the festival among Calgarians at-large.
- Shows at the Lord Nelson = oh hell yes.
- I may have to camp out at Tubby Dog all day on Friday to make sure I'm front and centre for Monotonix, who have managed to elude me thrice this year. This will probably be the most dumbfoundingly insane show of the festival. NOT TO BE MISSED.
- There doesn't seem to be anything posted yet, but I'm hoping the organizers can round up some good comedy stuff. If SXSW and Sasquatch! taught me anything this year, it's that a good injection of laughs can take a festival from great to flat-out stellar,
