Who the hell is Kebab Worths-How and why would you care if he or she is running for Calgary mayor? Well, to clarify, the person in question is actually Ward 4 Ald. Bob Hawkesworth who recently Tweeted he will not be running for re-election in his ward, leading one to believe he's all but decided to run for mayor this fall. Or not.
"I haven't made any decisions on that score," says Hawkesworth, when reached by phone Saturday afternoon. "It'll be some time after Easter before I'm in a position to make any kind of an announcement."
On Friday afternoon, the six-time alderman and two-term NDP MLA (yeah, that's right Calgary, you've actually voted for a socialist in the past and the universe didn't implode) wrote: "I have notified the Ward 4 Communities Council that I will not be running for re-election as Ward 4 Alderman in the 2010 municipal election."
For now, Hawkesworth's still sussing out whether he can raise enough funds, assemble a campaign team and enough volunteer support to be a serious contender. He pegs the cost needed for such a venture between $150,000 and $1 million. "If the money's not there, the volunteers have to be," he says.

Even running for office, any office, costs a fortune.
This continually leads to unqualified people buying their way into office, people who do NOT represent the interests of their constituents and who seem to be interested only in power, influence and handing big contracts to their friends.
I hope that Bob finds the funds, if he doesn't have them already then he might actually be someone who will do some good for us.
