Second Skin is a documentary about Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (or MMORPGs, for short) that you will most likely never, ever see in a Calgary theatre probably won't see in a Calgary theatre without the use of a time machine. The film debuted at SXSW to warm reviews, and has made the usual indie-doc rounds since then. But there's good news! Until the end of the day today (August 13th,) it's totally free to watch on snagfilms.
I haven't gotten through the entire thing yet myself, though I have thusfar been pretty impressed with it's level of analysis (warning: if you're an MMOer, it doesn't paint you in an overwhelmingly positive light), as well as it's presentation. The usual talking heads are cut up with little machinima asides (videos made using the graphics engines of videogames) that tend to illustrate whichever topic is being discussed with some sort of violent metaphor.
It's good stuff, and definitely worth the time if you've got it. Go watch.

But, it's true that you likely won't see it in Calgary theatres again, and the chance to watch it for free is always a good thing.
