Reviews to help you through the hit-or-miss loveliness that is the Calgary Fringe Festival
During a performance of Some Reckless Abandon last night, the power went out, right after the protagonist did something God would frown upon. Divine intervention? Perhaps.
The storm last night wiped out power to at leat one whole block of Inglewood, sending volunteers frantically scurrying about, wondering what to do with the evening's performances.
Cara Yeates, the actor in Reckless was undaunted. After a brief moment of darkness and confusion, flashlights were handed out to the audience and she finished the show in their dim glow. No music or sound effects. It was a fun end and she deserves credit for not missing a beat.
No word on how the other shows fared, but an eager crowd was moving into the Alexandra centre later for the 9:00 P.M. showing of an "accoustic version" of Rocky Horror, flashlights and all.
