Michael Green, curator of the popular High Performance rodeo and co-artistic director of One Yellow rabbit is taking a temporary leave of absence from both positions after being named Curator of Calgary2012.
Calgary2012 is arising from the city's bid to be named Cultural Capital of Canada in 2012.
"It's such an honour to be a part of such an important decision," Green said in a release.
Programming for the 26th annual High Performance rodeo in January 2012 is already almost complete and Green says the rodeo will be in good hands as Mark Hopkins has been named associate producer of the event following Green's announcement.

First off, thank you to FFWD for your continued support and coverage of the
High Performance Rodeo, Calgary's International Festival of the Arts. More
recently, thank you for picking up the story of Michael Green's selection as
Curator of Calgary2012 - Michael will do a fantastic job! Calgary2012 is
such an exciting opportunity for the City of Calgary.
On behalf of the High Performance Rodeo - as you mentioned in your posting,
we are thrilled to have Mr. Mark Hopkins take on the role of Associate
Producer for the 2012 "Rodeo", during Michael Green's leave-of-absence. We
want to clarify that Hopkins will work under the direction of Ms. Erin
O'Connor, Managing Producer of the Rodeo, who has worked with Michael Green
over the past two festivals (2010 & 2011.) Erin and Mark are a spectacular
team and will ensure Calgary experience another spectacular High Performance
Rodeo this upcoming January, 2012.
See you in January Krista!
