It's like Corner Gas meets America.
Stage West theatre's latest dinner production, Don't Hug Me, mixes quirky humour and twangy accents with subtle sweetness and larger than life characters who grow on you. Even the grumpy ones.
The over the top songs will add laughter to your night as the story focuses on two couples in colder-than-Canada Minnesota. Gunner and his wife Clara own a bar that doesn't do so well in the winter and he wants to move to sunny Florida. She doesn't. You can imagine what follows next. Bernice is a gifted singer but her less than exciting fiance Kanute only holds her back. A smoothtalking salesman comes in and stirs things up — much like a hip-swiveling singer did in All Shook Up — and all hell breaks loose.
Coupled with all-you-can-eat-food and yummy deserts, Don't Hug Me is a fun night out on the town.
