Arts project in limbo

Despite a city land use report this week that a southeast arts centre isn't worth redeveloping, local organizations are still pushing for the project.

Many Calgarians, including Terry Rock of Calgary Arts Development and Ward 10 Ald. Andre Chabot, believe the project is a necessity, but a report to the committee this week will tell another tale.

The International Arts and Culture Society would be willing to take on some of the cost, according to Ald. Chabot, who says it's an important project.

City officials tabeling the report are recommending the report be forwarded to the city's 2012-2014 budget, although they don't believe it's worth the $10-million pricetag.
