With cultural icons like Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Doug "Pinhead" Bradley and George Romero and his Creepshow cast, Calgary is getting into the darker side of their passions with the Macabre Masquerade Friday June 17. Sure to be dripping with all things dark, edgy, classy and romantic, the masquerade will feature food, drinks, dance, art and culture and of course, beautiful people.
"It's exciting to see Calgarians feel revved up for an event like this," organizer Lindsay Thomas says. "We have couples coming for their anniversary celebration, as well as people who simply want to experience something classy and romantic, yet edgier."
There will be appearences by all kinds of cult classic heroes, including the host Elvira, of course. There is no dresscode but creativity is encouraged and there will be loads of it.
"I just want people to have a blast," Thomas says.
DJ Nico will provide the music and there will be sets from performers and an impressive raffle that will see proceeds go towards the Make a Wish Foundation.
And you don't want to miss out on the night's special drink for the occasion, "The Blood-drip cocktail."
The event takes place at Hotel Arts and tickets are $45 and include a free drink and free food. For more information visit www.calgaryexpo.com.
