Like the pioneers who built the first Rosebud Mercantile 100 years ago, the spirit of rural Alberta is being celebrated this weekend as the Rosebud Centre of the Arts officially opens its newly renovated Rosebud Mercantile.
The new expansion is 10,000 sq. ft and will enchance the existing centre's dining and retail services as well as its conference cente.
"The Rosebud Mercantile is a dream come true," said executive director Bob Davis in a release. "It was a 10 year journey from visioning to planning, fundraising and then construction."
The formal ribbon cutting takes place on Friday May 27 with government officials and the centre will then be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday May 28.
Rosebud Theatre is located in Rosebud, Ab., 100 km northeast of Calgary.
