Instead of renting the flick Rent, why don't you head out to watch the real thing with Cappucino Musical Theatres production on at the Vertigo Theatre until May 14.
Rent is a favourite among musicals and tells the story of several artists and musicians living in New York and dealing with poverty, drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
Cappucino Theatre president Virgina Clark promises the musical will be music to your ears.
"Rent is an incredibly moving show," Clark says. "It deals with the grittier side of life but it has such a positive message, especially about the faimly you make for yourself."
Sticking close to originial script of the rock opera by Jonathan Larson, the Calgary version features a live band on-stage that is as entertaining as the 16 main actors on stage.
"Rent reminds us once again that friendship is thicker than blood and we need to live for today," Clark adds.
With some shows already sold out this week, you'll want to get your tickets before they are gone. For more information, call 403-221-3708.
