If the whole mayor thing doesn’t work out for Naheed Nenshi, he could always turn to acting.
Baheed Benshi, as he was known Monday night at Dirty Laundry’s The Grapes of Wrathburn, entertained audiences as a special guest during a two-hour live improv skit.
Nenshi/Benshi was a natural and had audience and cast members alike in laughter, especially when the crew had to sing about the contentious Airport Tunnel — or underpass, as the mayor likes to call it.
Nothing was sacred as the mayor the improv crew poked fun at federal politics, Calgary transit, city budgets, campaign budgets and more. Not to mention, the regular soap opera style comedy “dirty laundry” that graces the stage every Monday night.
Nenshi is humble enough to poke fun at himself and had a great time doing it.
“It was a lot of fun and I am glad they had me. It was fantastic,” Nenshi said after the show. “And, I got to dance with Julie Orton.”
Yes, Orton, of Kung Fu Panties fame.
One has to wonder if Nenshi prepared for his acting debut, but alas, he did not.
“They told me not to,” he says.
For those who missed the show, Nenshi ran for King — yes, King — of Canada…and won!
A natural.
