BOOM! POW! THUD!
Kung Fu Panties kicks ass!
Highly entertaining, comically amusing, clever and fun, the ladies and gents of the production ended opening night with a standing ovation. And I suspect that response will be a nightly occurrence for this crew. Hilarious special effects in the form of lasers, car chases and of course, kung fu fighting, this play packs a punch! You might wonder what an action-comedy movie might look like on stage. Wonder no more. Despite the bare-bones production stage, you still see the same things you’d see in a movie, but in a (very) clever way. You will forget the fact you’re not actually watching a movie.
Witty dialogue — and ironic feminism jokes (see preview story and comments for why this is ironic) — keeps the play fresh and interesting. The characters are outrageous and endearing to the point of audience members discussing their favourites at intermission.
The play was genuinely entertaining but the heart of the production lies within the characters. The actors played the characters with such genuine enthusiasm and energy that you can't help but laugh throughout.
There will be car chases, kung fu fighting, gratuitous (fill in the blank) — and of course, there will be panties!
