Hey, artists. How you doin’?
Have you ever driven across a bridge and looked into your rearview mirror and said to yourself, “hey, (insert your name here), your art would look really good up there.”?
Well, now it’s your chance.
The city of Calgary is looking for professional artists to create bold, public art work to grace not one, not two but four bridge structures being constructed as part of the 96th Ave. N.E extension project. The chosen art pieces will be integrated into the bridge and railing structures.
The submitted art will be evaluated through a two-stage jury process. Stage one is designed to develop a short-list of up to three artists based on submitted qualifications, experience and reference. And stage two will include interviews and detailed proposals for the short-listed artists.
The second best part —having your art being displayed on a public structure is likely the best part— is that an honorarium will be paid to short-listed artists. Did I mention the budget for this project is $471,000 CDN all-inclusive?
So, interested artists, hit up http://calgaryartsdevelopment.com for more information and remember that February 24 is the deadline for all submissions. You can also email questions to Dean.Kolundzic@calgary.ca. And, why not tell your friends — this “contest” is open to local, regional, national and international artists, too.
It’s Krista-Clear.
