The week's concert announcement round-up

There were quite a few shows announced this week, and whether you're into electronic, punk, rock or pop there is something coming up for everyone. Here's a rundown of what's on deck:

Steve Angello with Dom G & DJ Timeline at Flames Central Feb. 12. Tickets here.

The Real McKenzies with The Tartan Hearts & The Mandates at The Republik March 17 (is it just me or is it slightly odd to have a band who plays up the Scottish schtick perform on St. Patrick's Day? Just me?). Tickets here.

Slowcoaster with guests at Dickens Pub March 19. Tickets here.

Braids with Kris Ellestad and Memory Screen at Theatre Junction Grand on March 30. You may remember this band as gracing our cover last week. Tickets here.

Ron Sexsmith with guests at The Ironwood Stage and Grill on March 31. Who doesn't love Ron? Tickets here.

It was also announced that Katy Perry will be coming to the Saddledome July 16, but no word on when tickets are on sale yet. Keep an eye on the Ticketmaster site if you need to get  your saccharine pop fix.

Last but not least, tickets for the New Kids On The Block & Backstreet Boys show at the Saddledome July 13 go on sale Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10am here. If you're into that sort of thing, which, as I learned on the weekend, some actually are. I'll be over here listening to Nick Cave while you're buying tickets.

Mmm, not sure about the Backstreet Boys. Aren't they getting old?

I should mention that Los Angeles band Tremoloco are playing this weekend at the Ironwood - Saturday show will be sold out (a few places left as of today). Tickets for the Sunday show are $15(Saturday it's $20). All that saw them last night(house concert) were blown away by their performance. Full electric - 4 piece.
