Anyone remember dbs? If Youtube's any indication, it looks like the Vancouver skate-punk act's video for "Snowball" — a veritable Muchmusic-before-Sook-Yin-Lee-started-getting-naked classic, along with Another Joe's "Eat at Bernie's" — might have gotten lost in the sands of time.

Which is a shame, but it doesn't mean its members have been inactive. In fact, vocalist Jesse Gander has resurfaced with Plus Perfect, a band slightly less focused on punxuppery and a little more in tune with its pop sensibilities. It's certainly more sonically adventurous than its adolescent predecessor — we don't remember dbs effectively using horns or messing around with pedal boards, period — but listen closely, and there's still plenty of three-chord anthemic charm, here. In fact, it's not that huge a stretch from dbs's later work, which channelled mid-90s emo before it became a pejorative term (read: they liked Jawbreaker).

Anyhow, Plus Perfect will wind down its Cross-Canada tour with Edmonton's Falklands — another gruff, immediately infectious roots-punk group that ever-so-slightly channels Attack in Black's Constantines-worshipping tendencies  — with a date at the Marquee Room on Thursday, October 21.
