Keeping in the spirit of our annual Beer Issue (on stands this week), we wandered over to one of the finer places in town to drink a beer. Thanks to Bri and Loy at the Ironwood.

The Week in Headlines! Every week, I'm a little surprised that people actually agree to do this.

We went to the opera this week. Well, sort of. The ladies of Alley Oop, an unconventional opera experience, to say the least, put the headlines to song in a way only they could do. Get a taste of what to expect from tomorrow's show (Friday, May 4), which you can read more about here.

To celebrate the spirit of Comic-con (happening this very weekend), we paid a visit to Phoenix Comics/Melodiya Records to shoot the Week in Headlines. Thanks guys!

It's the Week in Headlines! Streets edition.

Man oh man. I'll avoid going on about how much I love this woman, and how great this show was, and how her band seriously laid it out. Instead, I'll just say that when she comes back around (she announced mid-show, mid-song actually, that the rest of her tour will be cancelled and this would be the last date, due to ailing vocal chords), it'd be a good idea to be there.

Our interns, Cameron and Derek, are the best. (The best footstools, towel racks, dishwashers, etc.)

The Wooden Sky had another sold out crowd at the Palomino feeling alright Saturday night. Hot Sweet Noise and Sunparlour Players opened up, each playing great sets. Just when I was thinking it couldn't get any better after those two bands, it did. A great night, and a great way to cap a solid week of music in Calgary.

Afie and his girls brought some seriously sweet sounds to the Palomino on March 29. Wake Owl opened up for a packed house.
