SXSW: Japanther tut, tut, shake butts

There's something to be said for discovering a working formula and sticking with it. Or, at least, that seems to be Japanther's MO: Aside from a few can't-miss tracks — see "River Phoenix" or "Pleased to Meet You" — there's no real proper entry point to its zillion-piece oeuvre. Scuffed up my Huffy? Master of Pigeons? Tut, Tut, Now Shake Ya Butt? All power-energizers. All excellent. All diverse? Not so much.

That's hardly a bad thing, though, especially when you bring the party as consistently as the Brooklyn-based power duo. Here, video evidence that all you need for a punk rock dance party is a tape deck, a bass with questionable pickups, a hard-hitting drummer and two telephones. The Sunnyside market should have you covered.

Also, I beg you to aid Fast Forward guest blogger Dave Jaffer's quest for the perfect taco in Austin. Not that I won't be taking those recommendations, though.
