With the provincial election campaign in full swing, there are events all over the city for people who want to participate in the next election, discuss important topics and ask questions of their candidates.
Public candidates meetings are scheduled for the following ridings:
Calgary-MacKay (February 25, 7 p.m., Harvest Hills Alliance Church)
Calgary-Bow (February 25, 7:30 p.m., Bowness High School)
Calgary-West (February 26, 7 p.m., Strathcona Community Centre)
Calgary-Varsity (February 26, noon, University of Calgary MacEwan Hall)
Calgary-Varsity again (February 27, 7 p.m., Dalhousie Community Centre)
Calgary-Buffalo (February 27, 7 p.m., John Dutton Theatre at W.R. Castell Central Library).
As well, several organizations are holding meetings on different provincial issues during the campaign. Candidates will be present at most. The Conservation Voters of Alberta are holding a forum on water issues (February 25, 7 p.m., Crescent Heights Community Centre) and Public Interest Alberta is holding a forum on topics like democracy, the environment and social services (February 25, 7 p.m., John Dutton Theatre at W.R. Castell Central Library).
As a public service, we also have some free advice for citizens attending the forums: don’t jeer, be respectful and keep questions short. Behave out there.
