Well, kind of. Social work students at the University of Calgary are hosting an open-house discussion on aboriginal rights on Friday, March 7. Guest speakers will talk about three topics: residential schools, politics and the need for education on aboriginal issues in schools. The event begins at 11:30 p.m in the Professional Faculty Building’s room PF128 (beside Tim Hortons on the bottom floor), and runs until 2 p.m.
On the following Wednesday, March 12, the university’s Students’ Union is screening Toxic Alberta, a documentary about the oilsands produced by VBS — the sister television company of Vice magazine. The screening is at 7 p.m. in the MacEwan Hall Ballroom, and director Eddy Moretti will answer questions afterwards. (JK)
