The provincial government is creating a new secretariat to “end homelessness” within 10 years, but critics say it’s too little too late.
The NDP immediately attacked the Tories’ new secretariat, which will open next April and be headed by Calgary MLA Yvonne Fritz. “Mr. Stelmach tore up key recommendations from the housing task force last spring that could have reduced the problem of homelessness,” says NDP leader Brian Mason. “He has very little credibility when it comes to this issue.”
