NEO-NAZI PROTEST

Anti-racism activists will take to the streets Saturday, August 25 to protest the actions of a Calgary neo-Nazi group. The group has been putting up racist posters around Calgary, and it slipped some flyers into several newspaper-box copies of Fast Forward’s July 27-August 1 issue without the paper’s knowledge.
Members of activist groups Albertans for Racial Equality, the Ethno-Cultural Council of Calgary and Canada Haiti Action Network will be handing out anti-racism pamphlets and buttons on August 25 at 11:30 a.m. on Kensington Road and 10th Street and at 1:30 p.m. at the Marlborough LRT station.
Liza Lorenzetti, a member of Albertans for Racial Equality, says the neo-Nazi group’s recent actions are “just one symptom of a larger problem of racism. It’s a really good opportunity to take a stand.” She says she’s hoping Calgarians will come out and support the three anti-racism groups. (AS)
