Sled Island is busy reprinting posters after complaints about listing the famous electronica group, Holy Fuck.
Mardi Goyette, a server at Kane’s Harley diner in Inglewood says when she saw the four-letter word she called other shops on 9th Avenue S.E. and told them “Get it out of your window, now!”
“This is a family restaurant so it’s absolutely not appropriate,” she says. “Maybe at a nightclub where everybody’s of age, but definitely not here.”
The City of Calgary logo appears on the posters but the city’s manager of arts and culture isn’t all that concerned, although she hopes in the future, organizers will warn her if profane language is used. “It’s the band’s name, the poster isn’t telling people to fuck off, it’s in the context of a poster that talks about a great music festival.”
The new posters will feature asterisks covering the f-word. Zak Pashak, Sled Island organizer, says he wasn’t trying to offend anyone.
