Calgary’s heritage organizations and the Inglewood Community Association are looking for public support to preserve the Calgary Brewery as a provincial heritage site at a town hall meeting July 16.
The southeast Calgary brewery hangs in limbo while an Historic Resource Impact Assessment is completed, as ordered by the provincial government after the owner applied for a demolition permit.
“The Brewery is one of the most important heritage sites in Calgary and arguably in the province,” says Bob van Wegen, of the Calgary Heritage Initiative Society.
Several presenters will speak about topics ranging from the role the brewery has played in Calgary’s history to how the buildings can contribute to future developments on the site and how citizens can make their views known to the government.
The meeting starts 7 p.m. at the Inglewood Community Association hall.
