EnCana offers $500,000 for info on bombings

'Small group of individuals' isn't co-operating with investigators: RCMP

EnCana says it’s willing to fork out almost $500,000 in cash for tips that lead to the arrest of the person or people who have attacked the company’s gas facilities near Dawson Creek, B.C.

“As we have said many times, we take the bombings of our facilities very seriously,” says company executive vice-president Michael Graham. Since October, EnCana’s gas infrastructure has been hit by four separate explosions, including one that partially destroyed a company shed earlier this month. Police believe the explosions are linked to a threatening letter sent to media outlets in October.

The RCMP’s Sgt. Tim Shields says police have interviewed hundreds of people in the area, but don’t have enough information to charge anyone. “There is a small group of individuals in the community that has not been co-operative with our investigators,” says Shields. “We are appealing to those individuals to do the right thing, and tell us what they know.”
