EnCana attacks becoming increasingly violent: RCMP

'This poses a real risk to the public,' says cop

Police in B.C. say attacks on EnCana’s gas facilities south of Dawson Creek are becoming increasingly violent after a shed at one of the company’s well sites was partially destroyed by an explosion January 4.

It’s the fourth attack on EnCana’s facilities in the area since October. Sgt. Tim Shields says the explosions are getting closer to nearby residents; the latest explosion was 250 metres from a house. “This poses a real risk to the public,” he says. Police have set up a website, www.dawsoncreekbombings.com, to provide information on the attacks and collect tips from the public.
