Alberta’s infamous labour shortage has struck again — and this time the target is Elections Alberta.
The government says it doesn’t have enough staff to work Calgary polling stations on March 3, election day. Elections Alberta put out a pleading press release February 19 asking for more people to apply, as seven ridings are short more than 500 staff.
Poll staff work from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and need to attend a pre-election training session. Interested citizens can call 1-877-422-8683 to sign up. (Registration officers get $200 for the day, plus $50 for the training session. Poll clerks get $170 for the day.)
