RCMP should work for citizens, not corporations

'You would think Shell was victim of a terrorist attack from Greenpeace'

You would think Shell was victim of a terrorist attack from Greenpeace. After joining the latter in peaceful activities we are assured they are not the saboteurs. Greenpeace has done the public two favours by bringing attention to environmental devastation in the tarsands and by revealing how easily real terrorists can get into such a plant.

It is ludicrous that we taxpayers must pay for extra RCMP protection for Shell. A few years ago another oil company was able to hire RCMP to plant bombs in wells in order to make a case against Wiebo Ludwig. Our Mounties should be working for individuals, not corporations.

Our hometown detachment is being closed now, as the force is concentrated in "more important" places. Oil companies in Iraq must hire their own private security and so should Shell, particularly as they exploit our public-owned resources.
