Letter leaves unpleasant taste

Re: Letter – “New Hot Eatery Needs Salt, Pepper and Manners,” Michelle Etheridge, July 30– August 5.

I am still quite puzzled as to why Fast Forward Weekly would devote (nay, allow) almost half a page for a Letter to the Editor for someone to do what everyone in this city has done at least one time — complain about a restaurant experience. This is not something new. It happens all the time. We’ve all been to a restaurant and had an unpleasant experience. Michelle’s should have been limited to a conversation with her dinner companion or friends, not an uncontrolled rant to a newspaper that previously gave the site a thumbs up. They had a good time — she didn’t. Such is life. Let others decide for themselves. I’m sure if it is as horrible as she alleges, it will die an early death. If it is a pleasant eatery, it will survive.

Her boyfriend’s condescending attitude toward the server, like a child sent to the principal’s office, probably didn’t help; nor was her apparent haughtiness at the server’s “clear disgust” with their tattoos. They were clearly disgusted, were they? If you present an attitude of being offended at people looking at your tattoos, out of curiousity or disgust, perhaps you shouldn’t have emblazoned them on yourself.

They weren’t chained to their table were they? If you don’t like the service, leave, like the rest of us mortals do – and tell the manager, not the city’s weekly newspaper, as if you are the first person in history to have a bad experience at a restaurant.

TREVOR SCOTT,

CALGARY
