Aboriginals are sorely abused, as well

Culprits were those given power over young people

When high-profile athletes like Theo Fleury or Sheldon Kennedy admit their alcoholism was caused by sexual abuse, it makes headlines and we are shocked. I have met several aboriginal people who went down the same path before getting cured. The culprits weren't always priests and coaches but anyone given power over young people.

Perhaps we should think twice before proclaiming someone a drunken Indian and become more vigilant. As Fleury says, "It happens every single day."
