Veritable chameleons, Toronto’s Latefallen shift between musical genres with ease on debut effort Bloody Kiss. Amalgamating elements of rock, sleaze, metal and even emo into their bombastic tunes, the band refuses to submit to one simple classification. Thick and gritty while still packed full of infectious choruses, tracks such as “Overwhelming,” “The Fly” and “Courage” capture bits of every dangerous part of loud music your parents taught you to fear. However, as we all know, the things we aren’t supposed to like are always more enticing. Bolstered by crystal-clear production that rings strong, ensuring each instrument is as boisterous and deafening as possible, Bloody Kiss is just clean enough to be catchy, but underneath the surface is something so dirty, you can’t help but be enthralled.
