Vancouver's Japandroids have earned all kinds of critical acclaim this year for its debut album, Post-Nothing. While the young duo is not the first to refine its sound to a minimal arrangement of drums and guitar, lines like "We run the gauntlet/ Let's get to France/ So we can French kiss some French girls" (from “Wet Hair”) and "I don't want to worry about dying/ I just want to worry about those sunshine girls" (from "Young Hearts Spark Fire") have enough bright-eyed innocence and infectious energy for Japandroids to act like no one had ever thought of it before. It doesn't matter who came first, and the beauty of Post-Nothing is that it makes us believe that.
