• Metaphysical musings from hip hop royalty.
Opening with a medieval fanfare, as if announcing the presence of royalty, Pain Language is something of a bipolar album. While Planet Asia holds court, chronicling nocturnal misadventures and indulging militaristic fantasies in a violently technological world, DJ Muggs (of Cypress Hill and Soul Assassins fame) sprinkles the musical landscape with musings on the nature of language culled from radio talk shows, religious readings and samples of metaphysical dialogue stolen from movies like Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain. Dark and heavy, DJ Muggs demonstrates a unique ability to bend B-grade classic rock detritus to his will. Royalty indeed!
