Blah Blah 666 - It's Only Life!

Barnyard Music

It’s Only Life, the debut release by Ontario’s Blah Blah 666, travels all over the world map from klezmer to Hawaiian steel guitar riffs and through the band’s take on traditional Mexican music. Instruments like the listed “plastic blow thing” and excellent vocals set a mood somewhere between a late-night Django bar band and Tom Waits. You never know what’ll come next — it could be the deceptively mellow vocals and guitar in “Blah Overture,” a dissonant romp through a high-energy tune like “Big Teepee” or even a bizarre new take on an old favourite like “La Cucaracha,” but always, it’s highly inventive and highly fun.
