Black Heart Procession - Six

Temporary Residence

As you may remember, Black Heart Procession is not just a clever name. In the realm of the wrist-slittingly beautiful, the band is as talented and underrated as Talk Talk and American Music Club. But what makes its appropriately titled sixth album so engaging is it they mines the depths of heartbreak and despair with diversity in mind. Epic piano dirges, Nick Cave-inspired groove, ’80s new wave, Wurlitzer-tinted cabaret and string-plucked tangos all take their rightful place on this album. It’s not a party album to be sure, but when you want to turn out the lights and explore your dark side, this is the album to do it to.
