Barn Burner - Bangers

Metal Blade

Initially released via fledgling label New Romance for Kids, Montreal-based groove rockers Barn Burner’s debut, Bangers, has been reissued by major independent Metal Blade. The insignia on the back makes no real difference, however, as the music that propels this nine-track bout of boogie- metal-infused fuzz rock and guttural punk is simply stunning. Pulling the slinky style of Thin Lizzy out to carouse with the craftsmanship of Mastodon and the steadfast groove of Fu Manchu, the album revels in everything from simplistic riffs to belligerent chugs. Allowing producer (and former Tricky Woo member) Adrian Popovich to utilize his admirable experience with the likes of Sam Roberts, The Dears and Sebastian Grainger on something clearly more in his vein is a mutually beneficial situation, resulting in an overall sound and attitude as enthusiastic as the blazing music itself.
