Avenged Sevenfold - Live in the LBC / Diamonds in the Rough!

Warner Records

• A7X bring their unholy confessions to the screen.

The first half of this two-disc DVD/CD combo, Live in theLBC, capturesAvenged Sevenfold’s headlining concert at the Long Beach Arena in sunnySouthern California, marking the first time the band has produced a live DVD.Shot in high definition with 5.1 audio, the disc delivers an impressive view ofthe rising metal gods laying waste to an adoring hometown crowd. Theaccompanying CD release, Diamonds in the Rough!, is a B-sides and rarities rehash.Representing the amalgamation of previously unreleased material, such as thenightmarish opener “Demon” and the hellacious “Tension,” the majority of these Diamonds were lifted from the group’s 2007recording sessions. The unlikely high point comes in the form of faithfullyrendered covers of Iron Maiden’s “Flash of the Blade” and Pantera’s “Walk.” Inaddition, Avenged Sevenfold has gone back and re-TOOLed (so to speak) severalof their most successful songs, including “never-heard-before” versions of“Almost Easy” and “Afterlife.” Not just a double-barrelled blast of metalcoreclout for the established A7X fan, the combination of Live in the LBC and Diamonds in the Rough! are an excellent point of entry fornew listeners who are still at that awkward “getting to know you” stage.
