Earlier this month, the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir did a BBC radio show where Andy Williams was one of the guests. At one point, the host asked him about his opinions on Barack Obama. He replied with his estimation of how Obama is dangerous because he is taking the U.S. down the road to socialism. He backed it up by saying many Americans agree with him.
Either because I’m a chicken-shit or I have the good sense not to kill the mood by picking on a polite old man, upon parting I didn’t say, “Hey, Andy, you realize the United States has a state-directed economy, don’t you? What’s your country’s defense budget? It’s a public handout to high-tech companies and an employment program for poor Americans. Ergo, the United States is already a socialist country. Please discuss this with the Nuge, Blackie Lawless and half of Nashville.” Because I know this, I don’t need to listen to this CD. If you’re living in dreamland, give Moon River another spin.
