Order: Medium F.A.T.S. Special ($17), topped with pepperoni, ham, black olives, green peppers and shrimp.
Crust: F.A.T.S. claims to have a “secret recipe pizza dough [that] can’t be duplicated.” While it didn’t strike me as much different in its basic composition than anywhere else, it really was well prepared. The underside was nicely browned and the interior had a pleasant puffiness to it.
Sauce: It’s a sweet, lightly spiced sauce and there was lots of it — enough that it oozed out of the pie during several bites.
Toppings: The shrimp were much larger than I’d cynically expected them to be and they weren’t rubbery or too chewy. The two-to-one ratio of ham to pepperoni — which wouldn’t be my choice if I was creating my own pizza — really worked. The olives added an interesting contrast and the green peppers were fresh, crispy and quite big.
Dining options: Eat in.
Decision: This is a decent pizza and if F.A.T.S. was my neighbourhood pub, I would have no issue eating here on a regular basis. There’s no Earth-shattering toppings here, just consistent, tasty pies, and for that reason they’ve earned a respectable four out of six slices.
