Bocavino Lounge & Grill

Burger: Boccavino Burger ($10.95) — a charbroiled 100 per cent Alberta beef patty on a toasted bun topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, garlic butter and tomato sauce tucked under melted cheese.

Sides: Choice of French fries, Caesar or green salad.

Atmosphere: Somewhere in-between a pub and an Italian restaurant, Boccavino is decked out in olive greens and light-coloured woods. There's a fireplace in the middle of the room, with sports jerseys — local and international — adorning the walls.

Menu: Italian is the focus, with familiar choices such as pizza, pasta, risotto and paninis as well as seafood, veal, chicken and meat entrees.

Decision: In keeping with the rest of the menu, this burger had Italian accents, resulting in a satisfying meal. The patty was well-seasoned and had an upbeat flavour. Discovering the tomato sauce under the cheese was a pleasant surprise and the accompanying garlic butter on the toasted bun was a wonderful touch. From top to bottom, this was a well-crafted, delicious burger.

Glancing at the rest of the Italian menu, the burger seemed like an outcast, an afterthought. Fortunately that was not the case. I highly recommend this burger and, once again, must give thanks to Burger Hunt readers for letting me know about it. A few of you suggested Boccavino and you were spot-on in your recommendations. Thanks, and keep them coming.
