Burger Hunt - Earls

Earls

Burger: Earls bacon cheddar half-pound burger ($14.30), made from certified Angus beef and garnished with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayonnaise and mustard. A wholewheat bun is available upon request.

Sides: Fries. Substitute for soup or salad ($1).

Atmosphere: Earls’s philosophy is: Start with good, honest food, pair with delicious drinks, set the right vibe and have some darn good fun. I can’t find any fault with that.

Menu: There are enough options that the more adventurous eaters will find something to eat, yet it’s generic enough that it won’t scare off the more timid patrons. Earls features an extensive reserve wine list that has been hand-picked to complement its menu.

Decision: I ended up enjoying this burger quite a bit, causing me to second-guess myself and wonder if this was just an anomaly or if all their burgers are this good. There was a generous portion of shoestring fries of which none remained at the end of my meal.

My main criticism is that there was just slightly too much produce and that the patty was squished thinner than I would have liked in order to match the size of the ginormous bun. Countering that, the produce was chilled and included something that I've never noticed before: The red onion was perfectly placed between two tomato slices. It was a simple, great idea.
