Burger Hunt - Cravings Market Cafe

Cravings Market Café

Burger: BLTC Burger ($13.95). A 100-per-cent Certified Angus beef square burger patty topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese on a toasted plain bun. Chipotle mayo was also liberally added to both sides of the toasted bun.

Sides: Your choice of roasted or mashed potatoes, fries, sweet potato fries, rice pilaf, fresh vegetables or onion rings.

Atmosphere: Cravings has a really neat concept — the room is decorated to seem like an outdoor market. Upon arrival you are given a swipe card and as you make your way through the market you order from as few or as many booths as you like. Your tab is calculated on your card, which you bring to a cashier when you’re ready to pay.

Menu: Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and closed on Sundays, Cravings runs a diverse menu that has a decent selection of breakfast and brunch items, appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, a rotisserie and grill, pizza and pasta features and a Starbucks with fresh pastries made by two in-house pastry chefs.

Decision: While it’s nice to know that the beef in my burger was of a higher grade, it was still a pre-formed patty. The produce was fresh and the dense bun worked well in conjunction with the rich-tasting burger, bacon and chipotle mayo.

Overall, the burger was good, and on a repeat visit to Cravings I would certainly order it again. I can’t imagine that I would ever deliberately seek it out, though. I’ve already found too many other burgers in town that I would choose before craving another one of these.
