Burger: Mercury Burger – A spicy beef burger served on a toasted sesame seed bun with mushrooms, smoked cheddar, Peameal bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomatoes ($16).
Sides: French fries and yam fries mixed together. House salad is also available upon request.
Atmosphere: A classy lounge that doesn’t feel pretentious. The patio is excellent when open, offering great people-watching as folks travel up and down 17th Ave. S.W.
Menu: A simple yet elegant menu, featuring salads, sandwiches and mains, including double-cut pork rack, and steak and frites. You can’t go wrong with any of the selections.
Decision: This was a fantastic burger, which sits in the top five thus far. When I asked what made it spicy, the waiter returned with the menu in tow for me to take home. The secret spicy ingredients are sambal and Tabasco. The patty was moist and cooked well without being overdone. The romaine lettuce was a nice touch, too.
Next up: Inglewood Drive In, 802 12 St. S.E.
