Burger Hunt - White Spot

White Spot

Burger: Double Double — A 1/2 lb. beef burger consisting of two all-beef patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato and White Spot’s signature Triple “O” sauce, served with two slices of dill pickle, creamy coleslaw and endless fries ($11.49).

Sides: Swap the fries and coleslaw for a Caesar or house salad (add 99 cents). If you are having the fries, the dips are a must. Choose from zoo dip, honey mustard, chipotle mayo or basil aioli (59 cents each). Other upgrades include onion rings, sweet potato fries or zucchini sticks.

Atmosphere: A family-friendly environment that’s welcoming without appearing cheap or kitschy.

Menu: Something for almost everyone: basic appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, rice bowls, stir fries and kids meals (served in a paper pirate ship).

Decision: A great burger. Despite my previous complaints about Diner Deluxe putting produce on the bottom of its burger, it works for White Spot’s Double Double. The Triple “O” sauce is creamy and sweet and the ratios are bang on. One slice of cheese per patty is perfect. For burgerphiles, White Spot offers a great way to appease your non-burger-loving acquaintances’ eating needs (what’s wrong with them anyway?) while you get your burger on.

Next week, Darell will sample the burger at the Peter Lougheed Centre cafeteria, as he paces nervously back and forth, waiting for his baby to be born.
