Burger: Deluxe Burger — Toasted bun, a ketchup-based sauce, diced onions, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato ($7.14 for a combo with a drink and fries; $8.33 for a double).
Sides: Krinkle-cut fries, spicy fries, onion rings, poutine and deep-fried mushrooms.
Atmosphere: A tiny building decorated with booths complete with (non-working) jukeboxes, records and pictures of classic cars. Every Wednesday night, owners of classic cars and hot rods gather, which takes the retro theme to another level. The drive-thru features a doorbell for you to ring as you pull up to the window to order.
Menu: Eight types of burgers, including chicken and veggie, as well as donairs, fried chicken, sandwiches, breakfast (until 11:30 a.m.), a kid’s menu, milkshakes and ice cream desserts.
Decision: Overall, this was a good burger. The patty itself was 100 per cent beef, with a grilled crispness to it, and the produce was fresh and crisp, as well. My only regret, or complaint, was the size of the single burger. The patty could have been a little thicker and, in retrospect, I suspect the double would have been a better option. Next time.
