Cheap eats for overpriced booze

When we become financially desperate will we have to starve, or eat dog food? Certainly not. A healthy, quick, easy and cheap recipe is spaghettini a la Romana. It can match a cheap Merlot, or any type of beer except stouts and porters. So grab a cheap bottle and make a good hearty meal to weather these gloomy times.

Spaghettini a la Romana

800 grams of spaghettini

3 tbsp of olive oil

4 medium-size garlic cloves

1 bunch of fresh parsley

1 tbsp of salt

Parmeggiano or romano cheese.

Boil the water in a large pot, adding the salt. Add the spaghettini. Place the olive oil in a skillet at low heat. Chop the garlic into thin slices. Place the parsley and the garlic into the skillet for three minutes and occasionally stir. Remove the skillet from the burner.

Drain the water from the spaghettini and place into the contents in the skillet. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan or Romano cheese and serve.

Preparation time: six minutes. Cooking time: eight.

Serves four
