So, beer cans are better for the environment, with the ability to be recycled over and over. Why wait to put your can to another use? Here’s a recipe that will produce moist, flavourful chicken ideal for summer eating.
Beer can chicken
4 lbs whole chicken
2.5 tbsp salt and pepper
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp sage
1 tsp rosemary
1 can Naramate Nut Brown Ale
(other beer is optional)
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Preheat your oven (or barbecue) to 175 C (350 F).
With a paper towel, dry out the inside of the chicken. Mix the spices an rub 2 tbsp of the mix inside of the chicken. Pour the olive oil into the chicken and rub.
Open the beer and pour half inside the chicken. Add the rest of the spices into the remaining half-can of beer.
Place the beer can into the opening at the base of the chicken, so that it can sit on a pan in the over or barbecue. Cook the chicken for 90 minutes.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 90 minutes
