DETAILS
The Untitled Art Society is throwing itself a birthday party. Sweet Sixteen will feature work by 16 original founders of the society and seven up-and-coming artists who were invited to participate.
The society was founded 16 years ago by a keen collection of recent Alberta College of Art and Design graduates. Turns out they’re still keen and still working.
The exhibition will be an eclectic collection of installations, paintings, videos and photographs.
A house for The New Gallery archives
Not quite an exhibition, but an important artistic date, nonetheless. The New Gallery has an archive and library, but it doesn’t have the space required to share any of it.
In 2008, a donor offered the John Snow residence in Lower Mount Royal as a home for the resource centre. Being a private residence, there needs to be a change in the land use designation in order for members of the public to access the archives. On June 7, the matter goes before city council for a public hearing. Any support from the community can only help Calgary’s oldest artist-run centre get their resource centre back up and running.
