Public graffiti

The City of Calgary endorses graffiti. There, you heard it here first.

As part of the city’s Open Spaces: Window to a View, which features artists in the windows of the Telus Convention Centre, Mandy Stobo’s art will be featured through the end of August.

Her colourful panels of graffiti-influenced work cover everything from moose to abstract collections of design and figures. Worth taking a few minutes while you’re hustling to the office or the bar.

Sparse prairies

Danny Singer’s clean, linear photographs of Prairie towns bring beauty to places most people zoom by on their way to somewhere.

Classic Prairie storefronts and homes line empty streets. Snow covers the ground or grasses are framed in mid-sway, fronting a grain elevator. These photographs are as wide as the Prairie sky and as sparse as small-town populations.

The exhibition runs until August 14 at Trépanier Baer.
